Adriana Sgobba is a native of Italy, born in Santo Spirito, near Bari, a region of Puglia. Her artistic training has been extensive. She earned a degree in fine arts from the Istituto d’Arte of Bari and a graduate degree in Decorative Arts from the Istituto Artistco of Napoli. She continued her studies with famous painters such as Alberto Chiancone, Roberto De Robertis and Francesco Spizzico. She also took master’s level classes with the sculptors G. Bibbo and E. Bona. She learned to create ceramics at the “bottega” of maestro Andrea D’Arienzo. Today her ceramics are present in private collections in Italy and abroad; in the City Halls of Schwerte, Germany and of Pittsfield, MA.

Adriana taught painting at the “Conservatorio S. Pietro a Maiella” of Napoli, then at the “Conservatorio Umberto Primo” of Salerno; and finally, in the “G. Carducci High School” of Cava de Tirreni.  She received numerous commissions for her art work such as the one for the Psychiatric Hospital Laboratory in Cipe of Nocera Inferiore.

Her ceramics, paintings, and sculptures have been exhibited in many gallery shows from 1960 to the present. The shows took place in Naples, Salerno, Amalfi, Schwerte (Germany), Padua, Bari and Cava De Tirreni and other Italian cities. These exhibitions received outstanding reviews from prestigious art critics such as Alberto Bevilaqua, a very important and famous Italian writer with a national and international reputation, Giuseppe Giacovazzo, Giovanni Lanzilotta, and many others.
